SHE DIED. and now she's back.

$1,860.00

This piece is created from upcycled wool sweaters and cotton T-shirts I received in 2014 from the creators of EILEEN FISHER RENEW, the brand's take-back program. It also includes a pair of leather pants from my shop, BACKTALK (2012–2016) in Portland, which I co-owned with my friend and stylist Katie Freedle. Vintage silk scarves of unknown origin, along with soy/cotton and hemp/cotton blend fabrics from past ALEXA STARK wholesale collections, complete the composition.

The piece is adorned with corallum from a necklace I bought at the Grand Market in Istanbul, Turkey, when I was 16, traveling with my Turkish high school best friend Jen in 2006. Paired with the Corallum, glass seed beads, purchased at Aboca Beads in Damariscotta in 2003 with my little sister, create “Poppies,” representing death and mourning. Additionally, Keshi pearls, bought at the Portland Flea in Maine in 2022, and the glass seed beads are added, shaped like “Lily of the Valley,” symbolizing rebirth and life.
